Changelog
What changed in each version of Dosewell, newest first. Version numbers have three parts:
- the first changes when an update needs you to redo part of your setup (we say what, and how);
- the second changes when an update adds features;
- the third changes when an update only fixes bugs.
To update, see How do I update Dosewell without losing my changes? Updates never rename a setting or change what it does, so your theme settings carry over.
1.0.0 (release date to come)
First release.
The formula panel and product data
- Formula panel: each product’s Supplement Facts, Nutrition Facts, Key actives or Ingredients
panel as an HTML table, from a multi-line text metafield (
calyx.label, one ingredient per line) or fromcalyx_activemetaobjects (calyx.actives) with forms, Latin names, a “why this amount” note and a linked study per row. It shows in the Formula hero, the Formula panel section, the Formula label block, the product page (the story column and the edge of the main image), quick view, the menu and comparisons. - Product colors and times of day (
calyx.color,calyx.timing): the color field behind product photos, the dots on menu chips, the pins on the day timeline and the cart’s time-of-day groups. - Price per serving on cards, the product page and purchase options, from the variant’s
calyx.servings; cost per day in the cart and the routine builder. - Setup help in the theme editor: a Setup checklist block in the buy box, and a dashed notice on every block whose metafield the product does not have. Shoppers never see either.
- Metafield namespace setting, to read formula data from a namespace other than
calyx.
Signature sections
- Formula hero, Formula index (the catalog as one tray), Formula panel, Formula comparison, Specimen sheets, Day timeline, Evidence, Routine builder (adds and removes real cart lines) and Goal finder (a quiz built from blocks).
- Compare on collection pages: a Compare checkbox on every card, a tray, and a comparison dialog for 2, 3 or 4 products.
Product page
- Product information in three parts (media, buy box and story column) with 29 product blocks you can add, remove and reorder, plus theme blocks and app blocks.
- Variant picker with buttons, swatches or dropdowns; swatches from Shopify’s swatch data or from Custom swatch colors; sold out and unavailable values marked; combined listings.
- Purchase options for products with a subscription plan from a subscription app, with Subscription terms shown where shoppers choose.
- Delivery estimate with a same-day cutoff, transit times and days you don’t ship; Back in stock request; Inventory status from tracked inventory; Pickup availability; Returns; Lot certificates; Volume pricing; Pairs with.
- Media gallery with images, videos, YouTube and Vimeo videos and 3D models, a full-screen zoom viewer, and a sticky add to cart bar.
- Gift card recipient form; Shop Pay Installments; accelerated checkout buttons.
- Quick view from product cards.
Collections and search
- Filter chips for one filter you choose, a Filter and sort drawer (list, swatch, yes or no and price filters), removable active filters, sorting, and a Load more button.
- Search suggestions with products, prices, collections, pages and articles; a search results page with the same filters.
- Collections list page with tiles in each collection’s color.
Cart
- Three cart types: Drawer, Page and Popup notification.
- Lines grouped by time of day, a cost per day line, “Pairs with your cart” with a fallback list, a switch to subscription on one-time lines, the order note and accelerated checkout buttons.
Pages and content
- Header with menu chips, menus up to three levels, a sticky header (always, or when scrolling up), customer accounts, and country and language selectors. Announcement bar with up to four messages and a pause button.
- Footer set as the back of a label, with menus, newsletter signup, social media icons, Follow on Shop, payment icons and your product disclaimer as its footnote.
- Content sections: Rich text, Image with text, Featured product, Featured collection, Blog posts, Collection list, Feature columns, Newsletter, Video, FAQ (with FAQ data for search engines), Testimonials, Logo list, Before and after, Trust row, Contact form, Custom Liquid and Blocks.
- 13 theme blocks: Heading, Text, Button, Image, Group, Spacer, Custom Liquid, Icon with text, Rule, Badge, Accordion, Formula label and Video.
- Blog, blog post with comments, page, contact page, 404 page, password page and gift card page (with QR code, Apple Wallet, print and copy code).
- Claims settings: product disclaimer, the Daily Value footnote and a testing note.
Styles
- One style: Dosewell (supplements). See Presets.
Accessibility and speed
- Keyboard access to every menu, filter, swatch, carousel and dialog; announced cart, price and filter changes; the visitor’s reduced-motion setting always respected, plus an Animations setting; color schemes that meet WCAG contrast ratios.
- Scripts load per section, and heavier parts (quick view, search suggestions, zoom) load when a shopper first uses them.
- Storefront text in English, ready for translation apps; right-to-left languages supported.
Known limitations
- The comparison dialog on collection pages shows fixed rows (goal, time of day, serving, key actives, price per serving). Your own rows from Comparison row blocks show only in a Formula comparison section.
- The gift card recipient message takes up to 200 characters and shows no character count.
- A linked Image block takes its name for screen readers from the image’s alt text; add alt text to every linked image.
- Sections have no anchor setting. To link the menu chips to sections of a page, copy the section’s id as described in Presets.
- Sort collections on the collections list page sorts each page of 12 collections, not the whole list.
- The theme editor’s setting names are in English only.
